We are a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in London, United Kingdom. Over the past 39 years tve has worked with numerous partners and organisations in over 90+ counries. Our films have been distributed and watched by over 400 million viewers across various platforms.
Cheryl Campbell was tve’s executive director for 16 years. At a time of revolutionary change in mass media she led the organisation from its focus on broadcasting into the new world of social media and streaming, creating platforms that gave voice to young filmmakers globally, amateur and professional, in exploring the environment and social justice. Cheryl began her career as a journalist in newspapers and at BBC Radio before working as a senior reporter and news reader with the UK breakfast channel TV-am. She then led public communication and digital communication teams at the international development agency Christian Aid and has extensive international filmmaking experience. Cheryl read Classics and Egyptology at Selwyn College, Cambridge.
Dinesh is a first-generation immigrant from India and has lived and worked in 12 European countries. A lateral thinking pioneer, he is recognised in Europe and the United States for his innovation and leadership skills. He is able to contribute strategic insight and practical action to key contemporary issues, ranging from British entrepreneurship, the online economy and sustainability. Dinesh founded ebookers.com, the first internet travel company in the UK and Europe. It achieved FTSE 250 status in the London Stock Exchange. It created 2,000 jobs and was based in 11 European countries. In 2005, it achieved annual sales of 1 billion dollars. Now, the company achieves 2.5 billion dollars in sales. He has donated £3.7m to charity since 2005
Tony Matharu is founder and Chairman of Integrity International Group and its subsidiaries, including Global Hospitality Services, and Integrity International Trust. He is also Chairman of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Asian Business Association, Vice President of Oracle Head and Neck Cancer Research Trust, Director of Bee London, and holds board for a number of additional charitable, sporting and arts organisations.
Anthony Tudor St John, 22nd Baron St John of Bletso (born 16 May 1957) is a British peer, politician, businessman and solicitor. He is one of the ninety hereditary peers elected to remain in the House of Lords after the House of Lords Act 1999. He speaks on African affairs (and is a notable expert on Southern Africa), deregulation, financial services and information technology. Rather than aligning with a particular political party, he remains a crossbencher.
Surina Narula, is a businesswoman, philanthropist and an activist. She has worked with woman and children through Plan and consortium for street children and woman and children first. She has co founded the DSC prize for south Asian literature and is a founder of Difficult dialogues. She received Asian of the year award in 2005 and was appointed an MBE in 2008 for her charitable work. For 25 years Surina has organised events to raise money and the profile of street children internationally. In 2012 Surina founded the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards, and in 2016 she founded Difficult Dialogues (www.difficultdialogues.com). Surina has received awards for her contribution to street children charities and in 2003 was highly commended for The Beacon Prize for her outstanding contribution to charitable and social causes. In recognition of her charity work she was presented with the Asian of the Year Award in 2005 and in June 2008 appointed an MBE for charitable work in India.
Mei Sim Lai is managing director of LaiPeters Ltd and founder of LaiPeters & Co, chartered accountants. Since 1991, Mei Sim has held a number of non-executive and other appointments in the private, public, charitable and not- for-profit sectors. She is also involved with international business and women’s groups. Mei Sim, who is of Malaysian origin, is proud to be the first Chinese person in the City of London to become the Master of a City livery Company, taking office as the Master of the Worshipful Company of World Traders in 2011. She is a past winner of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, was appointed an OBE in 2014 in recognition of her services to equal opportunities and since 2006 she has been one of Her Majesty’s representatives in Greater London with responsibility for Brent. Mei Sim was President of the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards 2016.
